You do NOT need it unless you plan on wasting time and money but you have everything you need when you order the hubs,spokes and rims.NOTE if you plan on using the hex huds make sure to order the right spokes for them.They did NOT tell me I needed special spokes for the hubs and screwed me.I had to pay for the powder coating twice and shipping for their lack of information on this but other than that they look great.I have not had a chance to test them out yet but they look good and are Not a weight saving hub I would recamend the eagle hub to save weight.
